Put sustainable development at the heart of your textile purchasing policy

  • You purchase textile articles for professional use: branded garments, work wear, linen...
  • You are concerned about the health of the people using these products...
  • You would like to have guarantees concerning the social and environmental under which they are produced...

Nowadays, many decision-makers share a common objective: including social and environmental criteria in their invitations to tender. This is because they wish to give preference to production methods which reconcile human rights and respect for the environment.

Nevertheless, it is no simple affair to include sustainable development requirements in an invitation to tender. The process demands both technical expertise relating to the activity concerned and an understanding of its specific impact in social and environmental terms.

As far as the textile supply chain is concerned, each article is the fruit of several manufacturing stages (spinning, weaving, dying, making up...). These stages are generally carried out in different parts of the world.  The social and environmental impact at each stage of manufacturing, and likewise the health risks for users (in terms of harmlessness of the end product) differ according to the type of article, what it is composed of, the processes used, and the phases and places of manufacture.

Yamana brings you technical knowledge of sustainable development specifically applied to the textile sector.
